Description: Sam relives the same day over and over, continually having to deal with Dean's death. Determined to stop the time loop, he repeatedly tries to alter the day or otherwise prevent from his brother's death from ever occurring. After repeated failures, a slight change in how the day plays out tips Sam off on who the culprit really is. He confronts the man and it is revealed to be a Trickster god, who the brothers believed they had killed some time before (episode 37). Sam attempts to kill him, but the Trickster fast forwards time to the next day, ending the loop and allowing the brothers to leave. Unfortunately, in spite of the loop ending, Dean still dies from a mugger. Distraught, Sam, for an indeterminate time, dedicates his life to tracking down the Trickster, becoming an obsession. Eventually, they meet once again, and Sam begs the god to take him back to the Wednesday Dean died. The Trickster warns Sam about the brothers needlessly sacrificing themselves to save the other, and that he needed to get used to being by himself. Nonetheless, the god relents, and sends Sam back since "it stopped being fun 4 months ago." This time, Dean survives, and the brothers leave town.
